A lector may be a man or woman, at least of high school age, a member of the parish, and a regular attendee at Sunday Liturgy.

A lector proclaims the Word of God to the assembly. Though experience in public speaking would be a valued asset, it is not a requirement. What is necessary is the ability to stand in front of an assembly and read publicly in a voice that is pleasant, able to be heard, and understood. Not everyone has this ability. If you feel you have this talent, you are invited to become a lector.
