Holy Redeemer is a Roman Catholic parish in the Diocese of Little Rock, under the care of the Order of St. Benedict (Benedictines). Stemming from the Catholic tradition, Holy Redeemer is rooted in community building, the Sacramental life, and hospitality to those in need, all in the Benedictine tradition.
As Catholics, we understand and underscore the importance of community, of relationships, and especially of family. Holy Redeemer is place for people of all ages to gather and grow in faith in a setting proper to one’s age group and interests.
Indeed, the life of a Catholic parish, and the space where its community primarily gathers, is the Mass. The Sacrament of the Eucharist, “source and center of our lives” as Christians and Catholics, is the privileged time for us to be together as a community. However, we also live many other events as a community of faith through the Sacraments: welcoming new members in the Church through Baptism, celebrating love at Matrimony, asking for forgiveness in Reconciliation services, and acknowledging our gratitude for the lives friends and loved ones at funerals, in the hope that we can share eternal life with them. All these instances of the sacramental life bring us together as a community of faith, as Christians eager to grow in the mystery of faith, and in our love for God who is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
In the Gospels, Jesus challenges his disciples to do His will in feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, and loving those left-behind by society. As followers of Christ, our lives would not be fulfilled or authentic if we did not follow Jesus’ commandments to reach out to those in need. In this spirit of love, Holy Redeemer offers opportunities for outreach, and we invite all our parishioners to join in this effort.
Holy Redeemer is under the care of the Benedictines of Subiaco Abbey, an Abbey founded in 1878 in Subiaco, Arkansas. Subiaco Abbey follows that tradition and the Rule of St. Benedict. As such, Holy Redeemer shares in the Benedictine charism and spirituality. Holy Redeemer also has the benefit of being situated a few miles north of Subiaco Abbey. This geographical proximity allows our community to be close to the center of many educational opportunities, and to benefit from the tradition of hospitality, retreats, an internationally renowned college-prep Academy for boys, and the prayer life of the monks at Subiaco.
Our community, rooted in the Sacraments, and serving those in need, is a welcoming one. Join us for Mass, register and get involved in parish-life, and share the love of Christ with those who need it the most. We are a small but vibrant community and we have a long and storied history.
